Wolfgang Buchmaier graduated from Ruperti-Gymnasium Mühldorf, Ger-
many (Abitur 1986, Majors in Economics, Business Administration and Law,
and English); Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Germany (Dipl.-Jur.
Univ./ First Legal State Examination / Referendarsexamen, with predicate,
1992); Inns of Court (Referendar) of the Munich Circuit of Appeal (Ober-
landesgericht) (Second Legal State Examination / Assessorexamen, with
predicate, 1994); and Tulane Law School, New Orleans, LA (LL.M., with
distinction, 1996).
Mr. Buchmaier was admitted for the general practice of law (Second State
Exam) in Germany in 1994, to the Louisiana Bar in 1996, to the South
Carolina Bar in 1997 and for the private practice of law in Germany (Landge-
richt Munich I and II) in 1997. His native language is German and he is fluent
in English.
He worked as a Law Clerk for the District Court (Landgericht) in Traunstein,
Germany, for the County Court (Amtsgericht) in Rosenheim, Germany, for
the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Traunstein, Germany, for the County Gov-
ernment of Mühldorf, Germany, a nd for the District Government of Upper
Bavaria, Regulatory Oversight of Guilds and Trades. He also worked as in-
house counsel for a software-related technical customer support company in
Munich and for many years with a major law firm in South Carolina.
He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the
German-American Lawyers Association; the Louisiana, South Carolina and
American Bar Associations; International Committee of the South Carolina
Bar; and the Bar Association for Munich Circuit of Appeals District. Mr.
Buchmaier is also a member of Deutscher Juristentag e.V. (German Jurist
Association) where he served as Vertrauensmann” (Member-Representative)
in 1992 and 1994. Mr. Buchmaier is also a member and active participant in
the South Carolina Economic Developers Association, the German-American
Chamber of Commerce (Chairman for the Columbia Subchapter within the
South Carolina Chapter and member of the Board of the SC Chapter),
Midlands International Trade Association, and the Columbia World Affairs
Council.
